Awake & Armed: A Call to Stand

My heart is heavy as I write these words. Yesterday’s horrific news of the shooting and passing of Charlie Kirk has shocked America and the Christian world.

I didn't know Charlie personally, but his videos and statements spoke clearly of his belief. Charlie was a courageous man of God, boldly declaring the Gospel of Jesus Christ without compromise. His voice carried truth in a time when truth is often silenced.

The enemy thought he could stop the message by silencing the messenger. But he is mistaken. Just as Satan thought he had triumphed when Jesus was crucified, he only set the stage for resurrection power. Jesus Himself told us in John 10:10, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” Yesterday’s attack was the thief at work. But we, the body of Christ, will not be shaken.

Yesterday’s tragedy is heartbreaking. But even more troubling is how quickly division, bitterness, and even racial accusations have erupted in its wake. Christians and non-believers alike are being deceived, focusing on the “person/people” instead of exposing the “enemy” behind it.

Ephesians 6:12 reminds us:“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”

The devil thrives on division—whether through racism, politics, or bitterness. I grew up surrounded by Hungarian hatred toward Romanians. It was its own form of racism, and it poisoned our community. That same poison is being stirred up in America today. But we cannot allow it.

I understand the darkness of oppression because I was born and raised in Romania as a Hungarian minority under communism.

Fear, torment, and violence were part of my daily life. As a young girl, I remember sleeping with a knife under my pillow for protection. Hatred and bitterness were sown into my heart as a young girl, though I did not realize the depth of it until years later.

I grew up in religion, but not in a relationship with Jesus. I didn’t know that salvation was a personal surrender, that I needed to accept Him into my heart. In May 2004, shortly after coming to America, I encountered the living Christ, and I was miraculously born again, and my life has never been the same. I fell in love with Him, and for the first time, I experienced a real, passionate relationship with the Lord.

Ten years later, while preparing for a mission trip back to Romania with my mentor, Dr. Miles, I was asked to minister to women in my homeland. That was when the Lord exposed the true condition of my heart. Bitterness, anger, and hatred, I thought I had buried long ago, came flooding back. Memories of my upbringing—the violence, the oppression, the pain—rose to the surface.

I had a choice: either let my bitterness continue to rob me of God’s blessings, or surrender it and allow Him to heal me. By His grace, I chose healing.

God gave me a vision that transformed me. He showed me a glove and a hand. He asked me, “Can a glove operate on its own?” No—it only moves when a hand is inside it. He revealed that the Romanians (mainly the Securitate - secret police) who had oppressed us were like gloves. But the hand inside—the true power moving them—was Satan and his demons. (I share this revelation in greater detail in Chapter Three of my book, Compromised Identity.)

This revelation freed me. I forgave. The hatred toward my oppressors lifted. The heaviness of years of pain was gone. I was truly free indeed. Now, when the enemy wants to bring division or chaos into my life, I am quickly able to detect his tactics, forgive people, and attack the enemy with the Word of God.

The Same Enemy at Work Today

Yesterday, as I read the news about Charlie Kirk, I saw the same pattern. The devil once again used people as “gloves” to carry out his agenda of destruction. And just as in my childhood, many are being deceived into focusing on the “glove” instead of exposing the “hand.”

Even among Christians, I see confusion—people making this about race, politics, or social issues. But Ephesians 6:12 reminds us: “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

The true enemy is not a political group, a race, or even an individual. The true enemy is Satan. His tactics have always been the same—division, hatred, violence, and confusion. He used them in Romania to pit Hungarians against Romanians. He uses them in America today to pit people against one another.

And yet, here in this land of freedom—this nation founded on “In God We Trust”—we cannot allow the devil to keep sowing hatred, racism, and bitterness.

Our Call: Be Awake & Walk in Authority

This is a wake-up call for the church. We cannot live as if life is business as usual. The enemy is not hiding anymore—he is brazen, violent, and active. But praise God, the victory has already been won through Jesus Christ. We are not powerless victims. We are children of the King, filled with the Spirit, clothed with authority.

Jesus said in Luke 10:19, “Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall hurt you.”

So what must we do?

1. Stay Spiritually Awake

Do not be lulled into passivity. Recognize the enemy’s tactics. The world wants us to fight one another, but the true battle is spiritual.

2. Guard and Examine Your Heart

If hatred, bitterness, or unforgiveness lingers in you, don’t hide it. Let God heal it. When He exposes ugly motives, it is not to shame or condemn you but to set you free.

3. Forgive and Release

Forgiveness is not weakness—it is power. It breaks the cycle of destruction and uproots the devil’s hold.

4. Stand in Boldness

Charlie Kirk walked in his purpose with courage. We must rise to fulfill ours. Do not shrink back. Speak truth in love. Live boldly for Christ.

5. Walk in Unity

Division is the devil’s playground. Unity is the Spirit’s dwelling place. Let us not let race, politics, or offenses divide the church. We are one body, one Spirit, one Lord.

Let's pray:

Heavenly Father, we grieve for the loss of a bold servant, but we do not grieve as those without hope. Lord, we expose the hand of the enemy and declare that his schemes will fail. We bind the spirit of violence, hatred, and division in the name of Jesus.

Heal our hearts: Uproot bitterness, division, unforgiveness, and anger. Fill us with love, courage, and peace. Strengthen Your church to be spiritually awake, walking in authority, advancing Your kingdom.

Let Charlie’s legacy remind us that truth must still be proclaimed. Let us rise to our callings, faithful until the day we hear, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Final Thoughts

Charlie Kirk’s death is not the end of his impact. The devil cannot silence the truth of the Gospel. If anything, may this tragic loss awaken the church to step boldly into our callings and purpose.

I know what it is to be bound by fear, hatred, and bitterness. I also know what it is to be freed by Jesus Christ. The same victory is available to us all.

So let us awaken. Let us expose the enemy's schemes. Let us stand in our God-given authority, walk in love, walk in forgiveness, be spiritual-minded, and live faithfully until we stand before the Lord.

With love and urgency,

Stella
